Unexpected Pleasures!

Every now and again, we drive through areas where we can point to and say, that’s where so&so lives, or that’s the restaurant so&so and I used to go to… sigh… so many times we have to drive on past without ever stopping because of tight schedules or the time of the day it is. Just this morning we drove through The Dalles at 4am and passed by Ris and Peter. Another day, last week, we drove through Oregon and passed by a whole host of family and friends. BUT…. every now and then, all the stars align just right and we find a place to park this rig and spend time with someone(s).Here we met Mel and Diana at an Ontario Truck Stop and had dinner with them.

And recently we had dinner and spent the night with David and Sandra.

The View From my Office

The other day, a wonderfully beautiful day, I commented to Kevin, I wouldn’t trade this for another office job…. EVER! There out my front and side windows was some of the most delicious scenery one could ever hope to have out the windows of your office. Truly, I have the best job in the world!

Since we don’t have a (ahem) camera (another story, another entry!) I am leveraging photo’s absconded from the personal web sites of others! :)

The Beginning of my Day

It’s Sunday, (although it doesn’t matter which day of the week it is most of the time), and I awoke in Nashville, TN after going to bed in Higginsville, MO. Exhausted at 2am after a particularly long day I climbed into the rack next to a sleeping Kevin and don’t remember much until I felt the truck stopping. I poked my head out to discover we were at a rest area near Paducah, KY. After a bit of a break and a half sandwhich of PBJ, I went back to bed and slept until 12:30pm! What a life eh?

Now it’s 2:30pm and my turn to drive. During my short time up, I have paid bills, folded and put away some laundry not quite dry from the night before’s brief stop by the house (boy did we need that shower!) and now updating my blog.

Our lucky sojourn by the house last night gave us 4 hours in which to shower, do a little laundry, see Kevin’s sis Gerilyn and his folks, admire our wonderful home for a couple of minutes, talk to the neighbor and then have dinner with son Doug at Ruby Tuesdays! It was a great 4 hours!

On the road again…. just can’t wait to get on the road again!

Compute This

When I started this blog, Kevin said… and I quote “well, if you are going to start it just make sure you keep it up-to-date because there isn’t anything more irritating then a blog that get(s started and never updated!” Now he thinks I need to apologize to you all for being a slacker! But in my defense, he just NOW got a laptop for the truck so I can compute in real time so it’s basically his fault! (But we all knew that to begin with…. he says:-)

YES! We have a laptop and here I am online while he’s driving down the road! Amazing! We are just now on I8 headed to Calexico, CA which is one of our drop yards on the border of Mexico. This load will go into Mexico to an assembly plant for Kenworth/Peterbilt trucks. Then we pick up a load in downtown L.A. (ugh) and head for Oregon.

Until next time (which will be soon!) keep the shiny side up!
