Karina’s Place

Kevin met Karina on his return from PV Tuesday. They talked and she invited us to come see her place on the southern point of the bay. It was beautiful!

Karina is an ex-pat from the US. In the 1970′s she went on vacation to Yelapa and never returned (at least that’s how she tells it). She managed an awesome deal with a local there and has built a beautiful place… very much in the style of the rest of Yelapa… compliant with nature.

The path out to her place is very nice and a beautiful 10-20 minute walk (depending on how much you dawdle and gawk over the scenery which is gorgeous!) from the village.

These little crabs covered the rocks by the sea.

Some kayakers headed out from the point.

View from her living room.

Path to the front door.

Everyone grows stuff in pots.

Her kitchen was fantastic. Without trying, it was beautiful. Artful clutter!

Her winter bedroom was warmer.

The bath/wash room wasn’t a room at all. It was built around the rocky slope beside the house and covered with a roof of sorts. This is how a lot of things are done in Yelapa.

Ascending stairs between the toilet and shower was the laundry (ahem… washer) room. The sun is the dryer.

The summer bedroom is upstairs in this opening with a fantastic view.

What home isn’t complete without a back patio with a BBQ?

The BBQ

Thank you Karina for so graciously inviting us into your home. It was a treat!
